Welcome to the Embassy - Feeling Nutty
Feeling Nutty
Welcome to the Embassy (V0.3.1)
What's New:
(Not) A Tough Nut to Crack
New species: Tree Scampers
- Tree Scampers can be encountered in the forest
- Tree Scamper ambassadors will arrive at the embassy
In designing the Tree scampers, I envisioned a species that lives in close family groups, high up in the treetops. This idea expanded into a species that are foragers by nature, and have the rustic rural charm that may be associated with farmers or small-town hospitality.
This carried their development into a culture that, in true squirrel fashion, spends most of the year working hard to gather food for the winter. Their close-knit family units are collectively formed into a clan, governed by a council of elders. The council will make the ultimate decision if ambassadors are to be sent back to the embassy at your bequest.
Additional Sitting Room
New Embassy room: Conservatory
One of the consistent features since the very first Monster Ambassador game has been that as you recruit new species, they will send representatives back to your home base. Even in first game, Monster Ambassador: Original, where those representatives will little chibi-fied versions, the ambassadors quickly ran out of space and needed new areas to exist in. This was an even bigger problem in Redux and continues to grow as a factor in Welcome to the Embassy; the question 'How many ambassadors can you fit in a space before it feels awkward' keeps getting reduced as the intent to make the Embassy feel real and alive grows.
But each new space shouldn't just be a blank room; from the original game the ambassadors have always moved into spaces that the characters themselves would prefer. With the introduction of the Tree Scampers and the immediate need for more spaces, it became a question of 'where would Tree Scampers want to spend their time, if they had to be indoors?'
Where's the Exit?
New QOL: Main content tracker
- Notification will appear when the player has completed all mainline content
While the eventual goal is to have a full-fledged quest tracker, it already felt important to provide a way to tell if there's more to discover if you keep playing, or if you've seen all the current content. This new popup will fill that role!
